Change Log

Watch how GoCart evolves with our changelog.

GoCart is a fairly young Stripe Extension App for building ecommerce shops using the data already in your Stripe account. We receive daily feedback from our users and we're always working to improve the app. Here's a list of the most recent changes.

Version 1.2.2 - June 17, 2026

Feature: Checkout Options

Your GoCart checkout page is now yours to configure. A new Checkout tab in App Settings lets you turn individual checkout features on or off — no more one-size-fits-all checkout flow.

You can allow or block promotion codes, collect tax with Stripe Tax (when it's set up on your Stripe account), collect a shipping address and shipping rates, and ask for a phone number. Running a digital-only store? Turn off shipping. Don't use coupons? Disable promo codes. Simple.

You can also add up to three custom fields at checkout — text or numeric, optional or required. Use them for gift messages, delivery instructions, or anything else you need from customers before they pay. Custom field answers show up on orders in the Stripe Dashboard app.

Version 1.1.5 - Mar 6, 2026

Bug Fix: Tax Display on Checkout

Merchants with GST or other tax settings enabled in Stripe should see tax calculated on the checkout modal embedded on their website. A missing app permission was preventing that from working correctly. We've added the required permission — no settings changes needed on your end.

Version 1.1.4 - Oct 21, 2025

Feature: FAQs Page Visibility

Not every store needs an FAQs page — and that's fine. You can now disable the FAQs page on your generated website from App Settings. Flip the switch on the FAQs tab and the page disappears from your navigation and footer. Your FAQ content stays saved if you turn it back on later.

Feature: Contact Page Visibility

Same idea for the Contact page. If you'd rather not expose a contact page (or you're handling support elsewhere), toggle it off on the Contact tab in App Settings. When disabled, customers won't see Contact links on your site — but your contact info and social links are still there if you re-enable it.

Version 1.1.0 - Sep 10, 2025

Feature: Website Language

All the text generated by GoCart (such as buttons, labels, navigation, etc) can now be set to a selected language. This feature doesn't translate product or category data, but those are editable by you, the site owner. So now you can have your entire website in one of 10 languages. Let us know if there's a language you'd like to see added.

  • English
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Chinese
Feature: Maintenance Mode

You can now enable 'Maintenance Mode' on your site. This allows you to block site access for visitors so that visitors don't see incremental updates as you change things around (like reorganizing products into new categories). For instance if you want to update your logo, colors, and featured products all at once for a Halloween sale, you can enable maintenance mode and make the changes. That way a visitor doesn't see some your site half-changed - that's embarrassing :)

Onboarding Update

We've updated the onboarding process to be more user-friendly. Previously, after installing GoCart, you needed to subscribe to access any settings. Now you can access all the app settings, themes, product editors, etc, but the site is locked into maintenance mode until you become a subscriber.

We feel this will help users better understand GoCart and if it's the right tool for them before they ever need to enter their credit card information. Sure, we'll get fewer people paying us because they forgot to cancel their trial, but we see that as a good thing.

Version 1.0.23 - Aug 22, 2025

Javascript Bug
Fixed a JS error in the ProductDetails view when "Allow adjustable quantities" was set to use the company default. Silly Javascript.
Theme Sample Site
There was an impostor button on the theme switcher view that seemed to be a link to view the sample site for the theme. However, it wasn't actually a button. Now it is.
Feature: Preview Button
You can now preview your site with a different theme applied. This is a private preview that only you can see, so you can decide if you like it before anyone else sees it. Kinda like a dressing room for your site where you can try on different themes before you walk back out into public.

Version 1.0.20 - July 22, 2025

Feature: Website Preview
Added a "Preview your Website" button to the onboarding view. Hopefully this will help users see what GoCart can do for them by showing them a live example of the website they'll be building. However, if you don't have any products in your product catalog, the site will look somewhat dreadful. And it only shows the default theme, but it's better than nothing.
Onboarding Clarity
Adjusted onboarding text to better explain what a subscription includes. Because that's important!

Version 1.0.13 - July 9, 2025

Default Currency
The website now only shows products with Default Prices that match the Default Currency of the account. This is a big change from previous versions where the website would show all products, regardless of the currency. But then that got confusing for users when their cart could have three different currencies in it... So now you have to choose one.

Version 1.0.8 - July 4, 2025

Initial Release
This is the initial release of GoCart. It's a basic website builder that allows you to create a website using the products and prices in your Stripe account. It's a work in progress, but it's a start. Install the app, and you're pretty much ready to go. Seriously, we're going for zero configuration.
